What does a clearance cost in Karlsruhe?
The honest answer: it depends. Which factors determine the price, why flat rates online are often wrong and how you can lower the cost yourself.
Why there is no standard price
Online you will find prices per square metre or per cubic metre. That sounds simple but often leads to surprises: a sparsely furnished 60 m² ground-floor apartment is empty in a few hours. The same area on the fourth floor without a lift, packed with small items, needs a bigger team and a whole day.
Reputable providers therefore look at the job first and quote a fixed price. That is exactly how we work: free viewing, binding quote usually within 24 hours, all costs including 19% VAT.
The six cost factors
1. Volume
The most important factor. Not the floor area counts, but how much actually has to go.
2. Access
Floor, lift, stairwell, carrying distances and distance to the van.
3. Material
Furniture, small items, electrical appliances, wood, metal and construction waste are disposed of separately – each category costs differently.
4. Dismantling
Fitted kitchen, wall unit, carpet: taking apart takes time and tools.
5. Hazardous substances
Paints, varnishes, chemicals or suspected asbestos need separate disposal.
6. Date
Very short-notice jobs or Saturday work may need more staff.
What the price should include
Do not compare quotes only by the total, but by what is included. A complete quote covers staff, vehicle, travel, disposal including fees, dismantling and the broom-clean handover. If disposal is missing or billing is “by effort”, the final price can be considerably higher.
Beware of very cheap offers
Anyone who does not dispose of waste properly saves fees. If illegally dumped waste is traced back to you, that can become unpleasant for you as the client. Ask where waste is disposed of and get an invoice with VAT shown.
How to save on a clearance
Credit for items
Well-kept furniture, appliances or collectibles can be deducted from the price.
Use council bulky waste
Karlsruhe households can have bulky waste collected free twice a year. Getting rid of single pieces this way beforehand reduces the volume.
Pre-sort
Set aside what you want to keep or give away.
Give away and donate
Via the city of Karlsruhe’s swap market or social furniture exchanges, well-kept pieces find new owners.

What does a cellar clearance cost?+
Cellars are often cheaper than apartments because the volume is smaller. Narrow stairs and many small items can increase the effort, though. We give the fixed price after the viewing.
